Welcome to Asha UIUC's Sam Bar!!!!!

Brief History:
Once upon a time (First week of the fall 2006 semester) in a land far far away (Illini Grove)...

A few of us at Asha UIUC had the idea that we should have a restaurant where we serve South Indian Food (because everyone LOVES South Indian Food and there is no restaurant in the Champaign-Urbana area that serves it!), and have volunteers that run it and donate the profits to Asha.

... This idea evolved into Sam Bar!

The name Sam Bar is influenced by the delicious South Indian mixed vegetable soup known as Sambar. The clever inventor of this name is a Physics PhD student who cooked it up in her lab.

What is Asha you ask....

Asha is a non-profit world-wide organization that raises money for education in India for underprivileged children. Here is Asha's Website.
